Frequently seen at the festival, whether performing (2013/2016) or just in the audience, BALMOG are familiar faces for SWR and it’s a pleasure to welcome them back again. Hailing from close by, raised in the shadows of the castle of Soutomaior in neighbouring Galicia, their career already spans more than two decades of consistency and fury. Their black metal is sharp, aggressive and built with intent, combining ferocity with structure, well defined concepts, and delivering a sound that’s as precise as it is violent. This is not chaos for the sake of it – every riff, every shift, every moment is there to hit hard and stay with you. Their latest album “Laio” will be almost a year old when they hit the stage in Barroselas, but whatever they choose to play, we know they will bring a similar kind of focused and dangerous discipline to the show.
