In the age of filters, cosmetics and uniformed productions, BASALTO have placed sonic savagery before us, with a raw and monolithic sound a perfect synesthesia of the granite plains of the Beira Alta region. Their discographic journey, started with 2016’s self-titled release, has been progressively revealing how tight the trio are. «Doença» (2018) and above all the «Odor» (2019) and «Cólera» (2020) EPs have revealed the emancipation of their identity, well founded on the exploration of musical weight through harmonic developments and conviction in structure rather than improvisation. Still, the jam-like appeal of a stage seems like the most adequate point for the magma-like character of BASALTO to be sampled.
