Formed in Finland in 1989, BEHERIT stand as one of the most influential and transgressive entities to emerge from the early 90s black metal underground. Initially firmly rooted in raw death metal and grindcore, the band soon shifted towards a primitive and ritualistic form of black metal that deliberately rejected polish and convention in favour of atmosphere, repetition and extremity. Seminal releases such as "The Oath Of Black Blood" and "Drawing Down The Moon" became foundational documents of the genre, securing Beherit’s cult status and long-lasting influence. After years of silence and distance from traditional metal structures, the band returned to black metal with "Engram" in 2009, marking a new phase focused on full ritualistic intent. More recently, they've also returned to the stages, bringing their rare and unsettling sonic universe back to a live context, where atmosphere and confrontation take precedence over spectacle.
