A cult name in the world of stoner doom, BLACK PYRAMID combine the tradition of Sabbathian riffs (in the vein of High On Fire, Electric Wizard or Reverend Bizarre) with an epic, psychedelic vein that makes them distinctive. Hailing from Massachusetts, they made their debut with the eponymous album ‘Black Pyramid’ (2009), a veritable monument of weight and multi tidal atmospheres, full of incendiary solos and hypnotic passages. The band's sound is as much about crushing density as it is about melody, creating true sonic odysseys where each song seems to transport the listener to mythical scenarios and cosmic battles. Their second album, the zeppelin-like ‘II’ (2012), consolidated their status, blending even more progressive layers and ambitious narrative structures. After a few line-up changes, Black Pyramid kept their flame sufficiently burning for a decade, until they returned with ‘The Paths of Time Are Vast’ (2024), which keeps intact their aura as an enigmatic and respected band in the doom underground and will unleash a storm of monolithic riffs on SWR 2025, making the audience sink into fuzz and distortion on a true sonic journey.
