Formed in Switzerland in 2008, BÖLZER quickly became one of the most distinctive voices within contemporary extreme metal. Operating as a duo and deliberately rejecting the traditional bass guitar format, the band developed a dense and layered sound built on dissonant riffing, shifting rhythms and a strong emphasis on atmosphere and thematic depth. Early EPs such as “Aura” and “Soma” established the band as a singular presence in the underground, praised for their ability to merge black and death metal influences with an almost hypnotic structural approach. Their debut full-length, “Hero”, expanded that vision further, introducing more complex arrangements and philosophical undertones. On stage, Bölzer transform their minimal line-up into a powerful and immersive experience, relying on precision, intensity and a commanding sonic presence.
