Considering three quarters of the Mortiferum lineup play in CAUSTIC WOUND; it would really suck to have the former at the festival this year and just wonder how awesome it would be if the latter could also be there. Hell, even Corpus Offal, who feature Caustic Wound vocalist Clyle Lindstrom on guitars, are also on the lineup. So worry not, we hear you, and so Mortiferum’s younger, dumber half-sister will also help rip the Barroselas stage apart in 2026. The original joke would be “younger and slower”, by the way, but there’s no universe in which Caustic Wound can be accused of being “slow” in any way. Their particular brand of old-school death metal is packed to the brim with the messy fluids of grindcore, and their relentless, visceral attack will totally slice your head off if you so much as look away for a second. Despite the blasty, grind excitement of their songs, there’s also real meat in their bones, chunky riffs all over the place like good death metal boys know how to do, so splatteringly good that forefathers Exhumed (speaking of bands playing at SWR 2026, right?) will be impressed themselves. We don’t know what they’ll play, but suffice to say 52 minutes would be enough to blast through both of their ripping full-length albums so far, 2020’s “Death Posture” and last year’s “Grinding Mechanisms Of Torment”. We can’t wait.
