Born out of the participation in the Death to All tribute tours of both the legendary Matt Harvey (Exhumed) and drummer Gus Rios, GRUESOME have taken an unlikely path, transforming into one of the great death metal acts of our time, while proudly and unashamedly never letting the Death tribute factor behind. Not only are they purposefully writing and playing in the style of the great pioneers, but they are also closely following Chuck Schuldiner’s artistic trajectory, having gone through the “Scream Bloody Gore” and “Leprosy” phases, and now situated currently somewhere between “Spiritual Healing” and “Human” with their latest album, “Silent Echoes”. Let’s face it, any other band would totally botch this up, but such is the talent in the Gruesome lineup, as well as the respectful love for the original inspiration material of Death, that they are able to walk the fine line between real band with original material and Death tribute without ever becoming stale or turning into a simple copy. Matt will be pulling a tough double shift with Exhumed also in the lineup, but it’ll be worth it.
