Formed in Germany in the early 1990s, they helped define porngrind, a subgenre that took grindcore and death metal to new levels of brutality and obscenity. Along the way, GUT became one of the most transgressive bands in extreme music. Combining crushing death metal riffs with the sonic chaos of noisecore and a deliberately grotesque aesthetic, the band became shocking and inspiring in equal measure. Their debut album, "Odour of Torture" (1995), quickly became a landmark of the extreme underground, establishing the formula that blended heavy rhythms, inhuman vocals and an unfiltered approach to themes barred by decency. With subsequent albums such as "The Cumback" (2006) and "Disciples of Smut" (2020), Gut showed evolution without ever abandoning their commitment to the most visceral and repugnant side of extreme music. Known for their chaotic concerts and for the way they constantly push the boundaries of what is acceptable, Gut will be performing at SWR 2025 with newcomer drummer Alexander Wenz. Expect a sonic outpouring of pure filth and goregrind in its most primitive state.
