With an undeniable legacy in the underground, the legendary REPULSION are often cited as pioneers of grindcore, leaving an indelible mark on the history of extreme metal. Formed in 1984 in Flint, Michigan, under the name Genocide, they quickly defined their raw and relentless sound by merging the frantic speed of punk with the burgeoning brutality of death metal. In 1986, now as Repulsion, they recorded what would become their magnum opus «Horrified». Initially released in 1989 by Necrosis Records (a Earache subsidiary), this album became one of the most influential records in the genre, shaping the future of grindcore and inspiring bands such as Napalm Death, Carcass and Terrorizer. Despite their short-lived original run, the impact of «Horrified» remains undeniable, with tracks like «The Stench Of Burning Death» and «Radiation Sickness» standing out for their breakneck speed and disturbing lyrics. Since their return in the 2000s, the band has maintained a touring schedule, keeping their legacy alive among new generations of extreme music fans.
