  • Day 1

Thrown into the cauldron of metalcore in the beginning, the band led by the influential Trevor Strnad – a walking encyclopedia of all that is guttural and extreme – has nevertheless always had more in common with the cornerstones of death metal, from either side of the Atlantic, than with any hardcore main player. Perhaps because of that, they have spent the last decade and a half affirming themselves as a truly extreme proposition, putting out records that have made a mark on a generation of kids bent on emulating their influences – and along the way, they became one of the most well-oiled "machines" the underground has to offer. Currently The Black Dahlia Murder are better seen as the logical heirs to the Cannibal Corpse throne, which is saying something about the quality of their music.
