Founded in Brazil by Paolo Bruno, and later relocated to Scotland, THY LIGHT are considered one of the most influential and recognisable projects within depressive black metal worldwide. With its first release, the praised "Suici.De.Pression" demo, the project stood apart from the crowd through its minimalist, repetitive structures and a deliberate use of melody and restraint to convey raw emotional states linked to isolation, despair and inner turmoil. With a string of releases that rapidly attained cult status, Thy Light played a decisive role in shaping DSBM as a distinct and influential subgenre. The project’s impact extends far beyond its discography, having inspired countless artists to explore vulnerability and emotional exposure within black metal. Om stage, the same emotional intensity is fully preserved, resulting in a unsettling atmosphere where the music becomes a direct confrontation with the darkest aspects of introspection.
